Video Content Manager Web UI

The Video Content Manager Web User Interface (VCM Web UI) is SoleraTec's Phoenix VCM search application to find stored video on a Vault and then export it either in full or as a smaller video clip through a web interface. The exported video is the basis for video production editing.

The Video Content Manager Web UI addresses the management and storage challenges that the video production industry faces. It provides the ability to manage, protect, search, retrieve, and collaborate on video assets and production files. From the time video is captured, either from professional cameras or through third party video management software (such as Apple’s Final Cut Pro, Adobe's Premiere, and Avid’s Media Composer), all of your video is completely managed. See Introduction for more information.

The Video Content Manager includes extensive search options to cover metadata, including dates (for shoot dates, or edit dates), closed captioning, camera type or pools, or video storage information, just to name a few. After searching for and retrieving video assets, regardless of where they are stored (online, near-line, or offline), you can easily export the video to other tools and locations.

When searching for video, the Video Content Manager uses a low resolution proxy video (a fraction of the size of the original) as the primary video footage received. This low resolution proxy file is always paired with its original source video, regardless of where the video is stored.

In order to have the low resolution proxy video and thumbnail files available, be sure to enable the generation of them in User Preferences of Target and Process, and Target and Process Policies.

Change the theme of the window from Dark to Light using the buttons on the bottom right of the window.

Workflow - Video Content Manager

In order to use the Video Content Manager, video must be stored in a Vault and the Vault needs to be running. It is necessary to have set up a Target and Process policy to move video into a Vault. For more information regarding these requirements, see Add Vaults and Target and Process Policies.

The following describes working through the Video Content Manager:

1.Open up a web browser and enter http://<URL>/vcm. <URL> is replaced with the web URL of the server.
2.Log into the web interface using your login credentials.
3.Enter search criteria and click the Search button when done in order to begin the search. See Search Video Production Clips
4.When the search is complete, the results will be displayed in the Search Results pane.
5.Double-click a video thumbnail to open a low resolution proxy video in the Media Viewer. Or right-click on a video clip to choose from an array of useful options.
6.Use the Media Viewer to review and play the video, and clip portions of the video to export. Click the Export button to send video clips to the Export Queue.
The option to create log entries is available at this point.
7.Select the Video Content Manager Export tab to set your Export Job Configuration options. Here, you determine what system to export to, where to save files, and other options. Click Start Export. Files in the Export Queue are exported all at once. See Export Video Production Clips.
