Ingest Files from Avid Media Composer

Previous Next  Print this Topic

SoleraTec's Phoenix VCM has the ability to ingest a single file or multiple files in a queue directly from Avid Media Composer. This feature takes advantage of Avid's "Send To" custom template. After some simple setup, you can select an item in a Media Composer Bin and choose to send that item directly to Phoenix VCM. For a quick setup guide, see Install Avid Send To Functionality.

For ingesting files from Avid Media Composer, choose from:

McSendToPhoenix - Allows you to ingest a single file at a time directly from Avid Media Composer. Target and Process will launch automatically to ingest the file.

McQueueToPhoenix - Allows you to ingest multiple files that have been sent to a queue from Avid Media Composer. You can send as many files as you like to this queue and they will be processed the next time you open Target and Process from your suite of Phoenix VCM applications.

How to ingest single files from Avid using McSendToPhoenix

To take advantage of the Avid Media Composer "Send To" functionality, you must first create a custom "Send To" template.

1.In Avid Media Composer, right-click on an item in a Bin and select either Send To > Phoenix from the shortcut menu.
2.Verify that the settings are correct in the Send To window. They should be the same as when the template was setup.
3.Click OK to start the ingest process.
4.Target and Process launches automatically with the item already loaded.
5.Select appropriate values for the Files, Criteria, Metadata (if available), Processing, Destination, Scheduling, and Advanced tabs.
6.Click Start Job.
