The creation and configuration of the MetadataExtensions.cfg text file is necessary to view the Metadata tab in Phoenix EXP applications where the application reads the file (such as in Target and Process, and Target and Process Policies), and for optional extended metadata searches in applications such as Search and Retrieve. The Metadata tab only displays if it has been configured. The configuration process is intended for advanced users.
Extended metadata enables you to ingest custom metadata that you want associated with files. When you need to find and retrieve data at a later time, you can search using the extended metadata collected at ingest. The metadata ingested using Target and Process and Target and Process Policies can be searchable using Search and Retrieve and other Phoenix EXP search applications.
The Metadata tab appears in Target and Process, Target and Process Policies, and Search and Retrieve only if these applications find a MetadataExtensions.cfg file in <install-dir>\Config.
The red asterisk next to Pathname means that it is a required field.
When you create, configure, and implement a MetadataExtensions.cfg, Metadata tabs appear in Target and Process, and Target and Process Policies; they contain the Query blocks listed in the IngestMdExt block.
