A Note About ONVIF:
In many cases, people mistakenly believe that the Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) specification defines how to stream video and how that video should be compressed. In fact, ONVIF utilizes existing industry standards for both. In the ONVIF specification, streaming is done via the entrenched Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) that so many of the above IP-camera manufacturers have embraced. All ONVIF has to do is configure the device(s) to use the appropriate settings, and RTSP manages the rest.
