Phoenix
RSM utilizes configurable rules and policies to relocate surveillance video data in its entirety (with all of its
frames in tact and without losing any of its searchable attributes) into the federated Phoenix Information
Repository, which can comprise all available storage resources within a company’s network. Phoenix RSM can
capture video streams directly from RTSP enabled surveillance IP-cameras and ingest already captured video
files from third party systems such as Milestone, OnSSI, or Exacq video management systems. Along these lines,
it is ideal for metadata driven workflows in which extended attributes are critical for tracking and future
retrieval. Phoenix RSM is a great partner product to other well-known VMS systems by extending their storage
limitations and easing their storage management burdens.
Phoenix enables you to create policies whereby only new and highly active video files remain in the primary storage environment. By maintaining surveillance data on progressively less expensive media in the Phoenix Information Repository, including offline media such as tape and optical, Phoenix saves the organization money by fully preserving and fully managing video data on a lower per-megabyte cost medium.
More Relevant InformationBecause it is often difficult to distinguish between similar video files by cryptic file names and attributes, Phoenix RSM showcases thumbnail representations and motion histograms of video files within search queries. A simple click on a thumbnail or a motion histogram launches a low-resolution proxy file in the Phoenix Media Player, making it easy to determine whether the correct surveillance file has been located as well as at the desired sequence within a file. The histogram enables you to focus in on only portions of the video during which motion was detected. The Phoenix Media Player enables the user to view files at variable speeds, navigate to a particular point in a file, and clone–or “clip”–particular parts of files for export. Thumbnails and low-resolution proxies also enable the user to search video files that have been moved offline, thereby delivering on its unlimited retention promise.
Once identified, requested video files can be cloned to the Export Queue, where further details concerning how the files are to be processed for export can be defined. When video data is needed, it can be restored to any network location. Other options include sending the video data to transcribing or publishing systems, ftp sites, and network storage locations. These and other operations within Phoenix are as easy as point, click, drag, and drop.
