SoleraTec Ships New Version 5.2 of Phoenix Digital Asset Management Solution With Enhanced Video Content Manager

New release features flexible video editing capability, automatic low-res proxy creation, extended metadata capture, and enhanced managed movement of video assets through a variety of resources within a storage hierarchy.

SAN DIEGO, CA. - April 27, 2009 - SoleraTec LLC, a provider of innovative data protection software, has begun shipping Phoenix™ 5.2, the latest version of its digital asset management solution. Phoenix 5.2 provides information technology professionals with seamless management of a company's valuable digital assets. This new version provides an enhanced Video Content Manager™ (VCM) that gives I.T. managers as well as the users the ability to search, select, clip, and export specific segments within video files. Through the use of low-resolution proxy files that are automatically created when files are ingested into the Phoenix Information Repository, the user can review any video, even if it has been moved to a long-term storage resource such as optical media or a tape library.

Phoenix is unique in its ability to provide a file-based search and retrieve interface and the Video Content Manager interface that enables the user to actually play the contents of stored video file assets without first needing to retrieve the original hi-res asset from storage. Once a desired video asset has been selected, clipped, and marked for export, new Extended Export functionality enables the user to export needed data in a variety of ways, such as FTP, email, local file system, and other user-configurable locations.

'There is a strong need for more efficient asset management solutions, and we have been working with some of our leading customers to deliver the kind of seamless value that Constellation VCM brings to the production and post-production industry,' said Richard Myerson, president of Media Distributors. 'We can now deliver a massively scalable, intelligent asset management and workflow solution to our core entertainment and media customers that is far superior to any previous solution, at far more attractive price points.'

Phoenix enables the user to easily manage storage resources across a corporate network, choosing from a wide variety of storage devices, based on the specific performance and longevity needs of the data being protected. This extends the capabilities of users, allowing them to create systems based on their unique data protection requirements.

Phoenix 5.2 offers additional new features and enhancements, including extended metadata support, extendable exporting capabilities, file-grouping capabilities, and postingest metadata and file-grouping modifications. Many of these latest enhancements were developed from the recommendations of current users of Phoenix, such as numerous post-production and entertainment-industry organizations.
