ISC West 2010 Expo - LAS VEGAS, NV. - March 23, 2010 - SoleraTec LLC, a provider of innovative video lifecycle management and storage software solutions, has introduced at the ISC West 2010 show version 5.4 of its flagship Phoenix RSM surveillance video management software. This new version integrates interoperability with Axis Communications' VAPIX® API to record, store, and manage the motion detection information that is occurring in a camera's video feed. This new functionality significantly enhances the end-users' ability to quickly search and review areas of interest where actual motion is taking place.
Axis' VAPIX API provides functionality for requesting images, controlling network camera functions (PTZ, relays etc.) and setting/retrieving internal parameter values such as motion detection. By leveraging the processing power on the camera to do the motion detection analysis, Phoenix RSM can support more channels with less CPU processing and operate more efficiently on less powerful computers.
SoleraTec's Phoenix RSM video lifecycle management solution utilizes motion detection metadata to provide an ultra-fast determination of what video to review and at what time points within the video there is relevant activity. When coupled with VAPIX-enabled Axis cameras, Phoenix RSM is constantly recording, storing, and managing the motion detection metadata within the video feed and displays a histogram that the end-user can click on to review recorded video.
"Axis network video products are aimed at providing superior image quality as well as on board intelligence that can benefit our partners and ultimately end-user video surveillance systems," says Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. "This fact, combined with our commitment to an open platform, ensures that our cameras have the processing power and features that partners like SoleraTec need to deliver intelligent VMS solutions."
Phoenix RSM, utilizing information from the Axis' VAPIX system, will generate a multicolor bar graph that represents the motion detection histogram of the recorded video surveillance feed. Within the Phoenix RSM Surveillance Video Manager, the end-user can click on any area of the histogram to begin viewing the video at that moment. This new capability greatly improves the usability of previously recorded video footage from VAPIX enabled Axis cameras.
With Phoenix RSM's video lifecycle management, providing organizations the capability to record, store, and manage vast amounts of video surveillance footage, the VAPIX motion detection information aides in the quick and easy search and playback, thus finding the proverbial 'needle in a haystack.'
"Axis' VAPIX interface improves the usefulness of the recorded video footage that our Phoenix RSM product manages," stated Mark Armstrong, CEO of SoleraTec. "Users no longer need to sit looking at parked cars wondering when activity occurs; we're able to highlight the activity quite prominently."
Organizations that have long been concerned about recording only on motion -and missing actual activity- can now use Phoenix RSM's long term retention capabilities to record all video and have histograms highlight where the action is. You will no longer miss any important events.
